For
His Sake
I
am but one: but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do.
What I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do. |
The Daughters of the King is an Order for women
who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, or
churches in communion with it, or churches who are
in the Historic Episcopate. Members undertake a Rule
of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the
Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises
made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself
to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism,
dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the
strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.
All Saints’ Chapter No. 3154 was officially
enrolled in the national organization on May 24,
2000.
The group has meetings once a month. The
time commitment for the ministries of the Daughters
are as varied as our members. Serving under the direction
of the Rector of All Saints’ Episcopal Church,
the Daughters of our chapter host memorial receptions
following funerals; provide newly baptized individuals
and their families with a baptismal candle and bookmark
to celebrate the occasion. Also, month-long prayers
are offered for these new members of Christ’s
body. Parishioners use special prayer cards located
in the pews to request prayers for those in need
or crisis. The Daughters collect these weekly and
for one week, they pray asking God’s mercy
for those individuals.
Daughters are young and old, rich and poor, beautiful
and plain, community leaders and mothers, doctors
and teachers, secretaries, executives and housewives,
sinful and wavering, generous and strong. In short,
we are ordinary human beings enabled by God’s
grace to do His work. The only requirement for Senior
membership in the Order is that a woman be a communicant
in good standing of the Episcopal Church or a church
with the historic Episcopate.
If you are interested in being a member of All
Saints’ Chapter of the Daughters of the King,
