The Spirit is alive and at work through All Saints'. Be sure to read our weekly bulletin calendars available at all services for more current information about each ministry. Getting involved is the best way to show your love for Christ.
André House
All Saints' helps out at this downtown soup kitchen on the first and third Monday of every month. The group carpools from the church at 3:00 p.m. and returns by 7:15 p.m. Join the rewarding experience of preparing food and serving over 500 dinners to the homeless and hungry in our community.
Ecumenical Chaplaincy for the Homeless
You can make a real difference by helping others to regain their identity and hence, their life back, if you have a few free hours during the week. Chaplain Dave has helped more than 12,000 people regain their identity and remove the obstacles to getting back to work and off of the streets. ECH has maintained a presence in "The Zone" for almost 20 years -- sharing God's love amongst the homeless of our community. He would love your help to greet clients, assist with intakes, sort and pass out hygiene kits, distribute mail, do some computer work, or be company to someone who needs to talk. At the Ecumenical Chaplaincy for the Homeless, everyone—regardless of their circumstances—is treated with dignity, love, and respect. WIth donations of your time, talent, or treasure, you will help someone recover their identity and documents in order to get off the street and back to work. Contact Chaplain Dave Goodall at the ECH/Justa Center, 1001 West Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85007, 602-254-6524.
Habitat for Humanity
All Saints’ is pleased to announce that it is again participating in the Episcopal Coalition to support Habitat for Humanity projects in Phoenix and overseas. Habitat is a Christian organization dedicated to creating simple, clean, affordable homes for needy families. Habitat’s unique program coordinates funding from individuals, churches, and companies with volunteers who work side by side with selected families in building their new home. The Coalition is a group of Phoenix Episcopal Churches organized to fund and build homes for Habitat. Organized in 1998, the Coalition has raised the funds, and built numerous houses in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Participating churches include St. Barnabas, Christ Church, St. Matthew’s, Good Shepherd, Trinity, St. Jame’s, Holy Innocents, St. Anthony, St. John’s, Glendale, and St. Stephen’s.
Interfaith Cooperative Ministries
A rewarding opportunity to help those in need in our community. This ecumenical agency provides food and supplies, some direct assistance, referrals and clothing. Volunteers from the church assist on-location at ICM directly helping those in need. Applicants for assistance must provide current resident rent receipts and other forms of I.D. Another way people can volunteer is with donations. A cart for the collection of canned and packaged foods, clothing and baby items is available on the Church Patio. Monetary donations are made from a variety of sources.
Neighbors [Nursing Home Ministry]
A group who enjoy fellowship and meeting some of the needs of our neighbors at the Maryland Gardens nursing home across the street from the church meets each Monday at the facility to conduct bingo games, put on birthday parties and other activities, such as the "Christmas Present Project" for all the residents. They also help by bringing some of the residents to church on Sunday.
VICaP - Faith in Action [formerly Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers Program]
A non-denominational program that enables the elderly and/or handicapped to live independently in heir own homes. Services are offered through trained volunteers from All Saints. and other congregations throughout the valley. Services include shopping with or for, friendly visiting and/or phoning, business help, respite assistance, minor home repairs and transportation to doctor appointments.
SOME OTHER OUTREACH PROJECTS WE GET INVOLVED WITH OCCASIONALLY
El Hogar Project
For several years, the Sunday School program at All Saints' has donated their Lenten Mite Box collection money to the scholarship of a young boy in Honduras. He lives at El Hogar, a home for abandoned boys started and supported by the Episcopal Church. El Hogar feeds, clothes, educates and teaches a trade to the boys who live there with the hope that the cycle of poverty can be broken for them. This project teaches the children about another culture as well as the need for giving globally as well as locally.
Heifer Project This international group provides a means of support for poorer families in the form of a farm animal. Some years, each grade of the Sunday School at Lent picks out an animal to “buy” for a family. The Sunday School Children then make projects they can sell to raise money for their class to purchase an animal. They have made greeting cards, cookie mix, soup mix, and other enterprising projects to help children and their families around the world.
Iglesia Episcopal de San Pablo in Phoenix, Arizona
San Pablo is All Saints' "Diocesan Mission Partner". All Saints' provides financial support to their parochial operations, underwrites the Epiphany gift program for children and seeks to support in other ways beneficial to the spiritual lift of the parish.
Pura Vida Coffee Project: Great Coffee for a Great Cause. Occasionally, we sell bags of coffee on the patio after the Sunday 10:00 a.m. service as it is available. These coffees are certified Fair Trade, organic, and shade-grown. Using these practices raises the incomes and living standards for small coffee farmers in Central and South America, as well as helps protect the environment. All net profits from the sale of Pura Vida Coffee benefit at-risk children living in the grower’s country as well as selected outreach projects of All Saints’ such as Interfaith Cooperative Ministries. So be a good steward of the environment as well as help feed, clothe, and educate children in need, by purchasing Pura Vida for just $10 a bag; ground or whole beans in a variety of delicious flavors and styles. |
